WP MACCABI vs TABLEVIEW FC - 2nd Friendly Match

Following the success of our last friendly U/9 soccer match vs Grassboots FC, it was time for WP Maccabi to play their 2nd friendly U/9 soccer match and this time we decided to take on Tableview FC at the Tableview Sports Club on a Sunday 23rd May.

The 24 boys arrived very keen and excited to play with some of them telling me how many goals they were going to score, while the GK’s informing me that ”nothing is going to get past them today”.

Once we had managed to calm all the boys down, we then proceeded to split them up into 3 teams, WP Maccabi Haifa, WP Maccabi Tel Aviv and WP Maccabi Jerusalem with the respective team coaches giving them a pre-match pep talk.

I would just like to say a huuuuuuuuge THANK YOU to all the coaches for helping out, you guys (Darryn, Stuart, Bokke and Simon) did an amazing job and the event would not have been possible without you guys, so a big SHKOACH!!!!!!!

The games kicked off with huge cheers by the supporting parents, families and friends. The 3 WP Maccabi teams put on a gallant effort with tackles flying in and shots saved from all sides that would have made the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea look average, but Alas, these brave efforts were no match for the mighty Tableview teams, as Tableview ran out winners on the day, having taught WP Maccabi a good football lesson.

I felt that the best way to describe our performance was to quote Grantland Rice, an American sports writer who lived from 1880 – 1954, as he once wrote “it’s not about whether you win or lose, but how you played the game”. This I thought summed the boys up perfectly, as they gave 110% and took defeat graciously. Well done boys, I have no doubt that this attitude and determination will stand you in good stead!

The day was enjoyed by all and I would just like to say thanks to all the mums, dads, brothers and sisters for coming down and screaming for their kids from the touchline, was truly wonderful to see.

WP MACCABI vs. GRASSBOOTS FC - Friendly Match

On Sunday 2nd May, WP Maccabi soccer kicked off its 1st official friendly U/9 soccer match against Grassboots FC at the newly acquired Maccabi Park sports field. The event was a huge success and could not have been made possible without the support from the parents, families, friends and Grassboots FC.

The aim behind this event was to showcase WP Maccabi’s newly acquired Maccabi Park sports field which will be made available to all Maccabi participants, both junior and senior, as well as, looking to build/improve relationships with previously disadvantaged children through the use of this sports field by arranging friendly matches, tournaments & events.

The large group of 20 WP Maccabi boys arrived at the Maccabi Park and were split into two teams, WP Maccabi Haifa and WP Maccabi Tel Aviv.

It was great to finally let the boys loose at last and across both games the kids had fun, showing off their skill and talent for all to see. It was also great to see all the boys thoroughly enjoying their first official friendly match of the year as the hard work and training over the past 2 and a half months had definitely paid off with both teams managing to win their respective games. A fun day had by all and most importantly new friendships & memories shared amongst the boys.

Once again, a big thanks to IDEAL FASTENERS and PKF for support, as well as, to Grassboots FC for helping out where possible.
