Securing and Constructing the Maccabi Park
Western Province Maccabi the Maccabi Park field as a key component to the future development of Jewish sport in Cape Town, as it is congruent with our strategic objectives.
Through our recent adoption of this ±160m2 portion of the an existing Sports Club, WP Maccabi is investing in a multi-purpose sports facility that will be available to all WP Maccabi participants, both young & old, as well as, looking to build/improve relationships with previously disadvantaged children through the use of this multi-purpose sports field by arranging friendly matches, tournaments and events.

Gate Access:
The field was originally an old bowling green which had not been used for a number of years and therefore required a large amount of work to be done in order for WP Maccabi to utilize the field to its full potential which included installation of pedestrian and vehicle access gates.Tree Felling and Mowing:
The field had a large number of trees growing on the side (see Figure A above) so we decided to conduct tree felling which will allow us to install flood lights on that particular side of the field. The field was mowed to an appropriate length.

Soccer Goals:
WP Maccabi recognized the opportunity to utilize this field for 6-a-side soccer and therefore invested in a set of aluminium goals with netting. Due to this investment, WP Maccabi was able to setup practices for junior soccer in the morning and senior soccer in the afternoon.

Fencing:
The Maccabi Park is currently fenced off on 2 of the 4 sides of the field. WP Maccabi have decided to fence off the remaining 2 sides with 1.8m high galvanised wire-mesh diamond fencing with two 3.6metre (above ground) treated timber posts and stays which will allow for possible future fence extension.
Field Lighting:
Currently there is no lighting at the Maccabi Park field. WP Maccabi has identified this issue as vital to the success of the Maccabi Park and has consulted with “LEWIS AND DE KROON INC” to install lights so that the field can be utilized during the evenings for training and matches
